About the Opportunity
MyShyft is partnering with an established inpatient hospice company in Detroit, Michigan to build a per diem RN pool for day shift IPU coverage. This unit sees significant census fluctuations and a high volume of morning admissions, making it an excellent fit for nurses with acute care, ICU, or med/surg experience who are confident with admissions, IV placement, and PEG tube management.
No long-term contract. No minimum shift commitment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage inpatient admissions, including assessment, IV access, and physician coordination.
- Handle peripheral IV placement and PEG tube care and management.
- Provide pain and symptom management, including opioid administration, dyspnea, nausea, agitation, and comfort measures.
- Participate in goals-of-care conversations; support POLST and advance directive interpretation.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team (IDT), including physicians, social workers, and chaplains.
- Complete accurate, timely EMR documentation in compliance with CMS standards.
- Support RN death pronouncement protocols per facility policy.
Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted Michigan RN license and current BLS/CPR.
- Minimum 1 year RN experience in acute care, ICU, or med/surg; inpatient hospice also considered.
- Demonstrated IV placement competency and PEG tube experience.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking in high-acuity, admission-heavy environments.
- Familiarity with POLST and DNR/AND protocols a plus.
