Who this is for: MyShyft caregivers

When facilities share feedback about exceptional healthcare professionals, one quality comes up again and again: punctuality.

Arriving on time shows you’re dependable, respectful of your teammates, and ready to provide wuality care. It also can help to build your professional reputation and can lead to more opportunities.

“I should leave 15 minutes early”

– A simple habit many successful caregivers follow.

Why Facilities Value Punctuality

When you arrive on time to your shift, you help with making the shift transition smoother for everyone there.

Being on time allows you:

  • Receive report form the caregiver working before you
  • Start working without feeling rushed
  • Reduce stress for both yourself and the facility team and employees.
  • Show the facility they can count on you – leading to more shift opportunities
  • Make a positve first impression

Every time you arrive on-time, ready to work builds trust with the facility.

Tips for Arriving on Time

A little planning goes along way – also utilize the “directions” within the shift requests page to how long of a drive it is.

Leave Earlier than you think:

Those extra minutes can make the difference if you encounter:

  • Heavy Traffic
  • Construction
  • Parking delays or issues
  • Issues finding the correct entrance

Plan For Your First Visit

If you’re working at a facility for the first time:

  • Review the address before leaving – within shift instructions click “Directions” to view on maps
  • Know where employee parking is located (reach out via shift chat with questions)
  • Allow extra time to find the building or check in

Be Ready to Work

Arriving on time also means arriving prepared.

Before you leave home:

  • Review your shift details
  • Wear appropriate attire – check shift instructions (some buildings will put scrub requirements in there)
  • Have your phone charged

Why It Matters:

Facilities notice caregivers who are consistently punctual.

Showing up on time helps you:

  • Build a strong professional reputation –  leading to positive rating and reviews
  • Create positive relationships with facility staff
  • Increase your chances of being welcomed back
  • Demonstrate the reliability facilities look for – sets you apart from other caregivers

Reliability doesn’t start when your shift begins – it starts when you arrive.
