About the Opportunity
MyShyft is partnering with a hospice facility in Detroit to provide day-shift Registered Nurses for its inpatient unit, with a focus on completing hospice admissions and delivering skilled nursing care aligned with patient comfort goals.
This is an ongoing opportunity — not a short-term assignment — for an RN who wants consistent access to shifts in a structured, team-based inpatient environment without a long-term commitment. Pay is set by the nurse and processed as soon as a shift is clocked out.
Acute care hospital experience is required. Prior hospice experience is preferred but not required — training will be provided for RNs transitioning into the hospice admissions process.
Position Overview
- Complete inpatient hospice admissions independently, with training provided for RNs new to the hospice admissions process.
- Perform patient assessments and administer medications aligned with hospice comfort-care goals.
- Work 12-hour day shifts on a PRN basis within a structured, team-based inpatient unit.
- Coordinate with the interdisciplinary hospice care team to support each patient’s plan of care.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently complete patient admissions to the inpatient hospice unit.
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments for newly admitted and existing hospice patients.
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and hospice comfort-care protocols.
- Deliver skilled nursing care aligned with each patient’s comfort and end-of-life care goals.
- Coordinate care with physicians, hospice team members, and other inpatient staff.
- Complete timely, accurate documentation in accordance with hospice and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Michigan.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Minimum 1 year of Acute Care Hospital experience required.
- Hospice experience preferred; training provided for those transitioning into hospice admissions.
- Comfortable working in a structured, team-based inpatient unit.
